Obviously, ...I guess I can see both sides to this. Obviously, if this gal was preveting you from chatting with others who were in line, waiting to see you, then what she did wasn't appropriate. Getting upset because you wouldn't reveal "the secret"... LOL That's just plain funny. Well, from this side of things. I'm sure it wasn't for you.<br /><br />However, the fact that she didn't buy your book isn't rude. Maybe she doesn't read that genre, but was excited to meet a real author. That's a big deal for someone who dreams of some day becoming one. The fact that you took the time to talk with her will probably sit well with her (unless she's totally unstable or something). I'm sure if she knows readers who like the type of books you write, she'll be more than excited to share her story about how she met you and that you were so helpful, etc. Who wouldn't want to buy a book from the author that was sensitive enough to talk to their aspiring writer friend?
